Agent networks have existed for decades. Most do two things: publish a list of members, and hold an annual conference. Useful, but it leaves the hardest part of the job, actually working together day to day, entirely to email.

Gateway was founded by forwarders and customs brokers who belonged to three such networks and still spent their mornings re-typing shipment details into enquiries. We built the platform we wanted: structured requests, verified counterparties, real-time chat, and a scheduler that respects the fact that Hamburg and Singapore are seven hours apart.

Today the network spans 190+ countries and facilitates over 1.2 billion dollars in trade annually. The annual fee has never included a commission on a single shipment, and it never will.
