How the calculators work
Chargeable weight and CBM, computed as you type
Half the time lost in freight sales is spent asking for information that should have arrived with the first message. Structured requests remove that round trip entirely.
- Air: (L x W x H in cm x pieces) divided by 6000 gives volumetric weight
- Airlines charge on whichever is greater, volumetric or actual gross
- Sea: (L x W x H x pieces) divided by 1,000,000 gives total CBM
- LCL is charged on whichever is greater, tonnes or CBM
Worked example, air cargo
12 pieces at 120 x 100 x 103 cm
Volumetric = 120 x 100 x 103 x 12 divided by 6000 = 2,472 kg
Actual gross = 3,480 kg
Chargeable weight = 3,480 kg
The gross weight is higher than the volumetric, so the shipment is charged on gross. Enter the dimensions once and the platform resolves this for every quote.
